With five years of technical writing in the manufacturing industry, I have learned and mastered the process of interviewing busy subject matter experts (SMEs) to attain information for my projects. In this role, I have successfully translated complex technical jargon to bite-sized and crystal-clear work instructions, satisfying the company stakeholders and the users.
As an Instructional Designer, I have merged my technical precision with my background in Fine Arts. This unique combination has been a valuable asset in allowing me to create clear, visually compelling, and engaging work instructions for modern learners.
My Approach to Learning Design:
SME Collaboration: I consult the experts in capturing each and every step in detail, often asking questions outside the box to cover all bases, and documenting the steps of their process through photography.
Visual Storytelling: Leveraging my background in Fine Arts, I create visually engaging and polished layouts for these instructions. I systematically arrange the step-by-step procedure by utilizing photography, and also create simulated images using the tools from the digital software to promote clarity while retaining a strong aesthetic.
Simplicity First: I put myself in the shoes of a novice worker, and go through any information from the SME that can help with creating the digestible and bite-sized learning experiences.
When I'm not designing learning experiences, you can find me exploring new environments, enjoying the cinemas, practicing and learning new art software at my desk, visiting museums, and attempting to learn the art of making onigiris in the kitchen!
